Sexton Blake

Sexton Blake, a British detective old time radio series, broadcast from 1939 to 1967 on BBC Radio. The series starred detective Sexton Blake known as "the poor man's Sherlock Holmes." William Franklyn starred as Blake, David Gregory as Tinker, and Heather Chasen as Blake's secretary, Paula Dane. Based on a British novel and comic strips, the adventure-loving Sexton Blake became a household name for the most part of the 20th century and the most written about fictional character in the English language.

The plots in Sexton Blake deal with crime and mysteries. Blake's often compared with Sherlock Holmes. As Holmes, Blake lives in Baker Street, London. However, he's endowed with more physical prowess than Holmes. While Holmes may ponder, Blake rolls up his sleeves and gets the ball rolling.
